| The Voge’s spent two weeks with us this year and, as always, their visit was more like having old friends in town than paying customers. The seas were calm, the dolphin were plentiful and there were plenty of smiles on the dock after a good day of fishing. Clockwise from upper left: “Papa Pip’s” and crew head for the harbor with a boatload of dolphin, Mate, Rick Cowgill (left) and Captain Gator “John” Gray unload the day’s catch, Gary Voge shows off a big one, Fishing buddy, frequent guest and friend, Jack Kelleher(center) was all smiles, along with Mary Voge (center) showing off her nice bull, | ||

This crew didn’t mess around when it came to bringing the big ones back to the dock. Gene Cherry and his friends have enjoyed fishing aboard “Pip’s 36” for several years and always bring back great fish. From left: Rola Cherry, Gene Cherry, Chris Thomasson, Mate Mike Rathbun, Captain Bobby Manske, and Ray “Stumpy” Giles show off this impressive catch of dolphin with the star of the show a 63-pounder caught 15 miles past Sombrero Key Light. |

Lauren Winsten from Oklahoma, OK caught this 45-pound bull dolphin while fishing with her parents Margaret and Bret aboard the 20-foot Cobia “Butterfly” while staying at Captain Pip’s Marina & Hideaway. Goes to show you don’t always need a big boat to catch a big fish. |

Holy Mackerel – yep the mackerel were thick this year. Good friends from Jacksonville, Mike and Kelly Jordan, spent a fun fishing day with Captain John “Gator” Gray. We smoked their catch at Porky’s and made it into our award-winning fish dip, which made Mike very, very happy. |

The Butler family fished with us for two days and brought back almost the same catch each day – lots and lots of big dolphin. Nice work guys. From left: Jerry Butler, Sr. Jerr Butler, Mel Ball, T. J. Butler and Tom Butler. |

Here’s the newest addition to Captain Pip’s fishing team – Bimini Twist. She showed up one morning meowing like crazy from under our dock office, afraid of everything. After a few days of bribes with fresh fish from dock, she figured out Captain Pip’s was a good place to call home. |

Not all the catches have to do with fish at Porky’s and Captain Pip’s. Two of our favorite servers decided they’d found the catch of a lifetime and got married – Mike Gross and Anna Jedrzejewska. It was a beautiful wedding on the beach with a reception at Key Colony Inn. Anna’s family from Poland flew in for the occasion and Mike’s mother and brothers joined him from Virginia. Best wishes to the happy couple. |
The Burnaman family (left to right: Nathan, Coral and Ross) from Tallahassee shows off their catch. For once, Dad caught the biggest fish. Usually young Nathan brings home the big ones. |

This 30.9-pound dolphin took first place in the Veteran’s Fishing Tournament. It was caught by Paul Petek fishing aboard "Papa Pip's" out of Captain Pip's Marina & Hideaway. From left: Captain John "Gator" Gray, Paul Petek, Neil Franklin, Michael Drashcovich and Mike McKinney (not pictured, Mate Rick Cowgill). "Papa Pip's was one of 25 boats that donated their time to take veterans fishing on the fun one-day tournament. This is the second year for the tournament, which is the brain child of Captain Bill Sampsel -- hats off to Capt. Bill for a great day. Some of the tournament anglers drove up from the Boca Chica Naval Air Station in Key West. They thought they’d be fishing from the dock, boy were they surprised when they saw the line of charter boats coming to the dock to pick them up. |

Father and son, Jack and Michael Danko from Annapolis, Maryland, fished aboard "Pip's 36" out of Captain Pip's Marina & Hideaway on Father's Day and it turned out to be a day of "firsts". Michael caught and released his first sailfish -- 82 inches, approx. 75 lbs. and Jack caught a nice sized triple tail -- a fish he'd been trying to catch for years. In addition to the firsts, father and son had some nice dolphin to show for their day of fishing. |
