Fish Fry, Fish Fry, Fish Fry

Three life-long friends from Michigan -- Bill Buchbinder, Jim Owens, and Charlie Ventimiglia – spent a week at Captain Pip’s. They caught more fish than they could carry back to Michigan, so they decided it was time for a fish fry. John got out his secret fried fish recipe and everyone brought something. As usual we had more food than we could eat, so everyone got a "doggy bag" to take home. Here’s John’s "no-longer-secret" fried fish recipe, give it a try and let us know what you think.

John’s "no-longer-secret" fried fish recipe

One part corn meal
One part flour
One part sugar frosted flakes or honeynut cheerios (secret ingredient)
¼ cup dry minced onion
¼ cup garlic powder
¼ cup salt and pepper or salt and pepper to taste

Grind corn meal, flour and frosted flakes or cheerios to a meal. Add remaining ingredients to breading mix. Dip fish in a mixture of egg and milk then coat with breading. Fry to a golden brown (John recommends peanut oil) – don’t let the oil exceed 350 degrees.
